Big Brothers Big Sisters of Calgary

Cardel Homes is a proud supporter of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Calgary. Recently, Cardel Homes made a $5,000 contribution to BBBS of Calgary in support of the movie nights at the Cardel Theatre.

Thanks to our support, hundreds of Little Brothers and Sisters, mentors and volunteers will enjoy fun-filled evenings at the movies. Movie nights go a long way toward encouraging the trust and friendship that is essential to the mentoring relationship.

"There is nothing better than seeing the face of a Little light up when they see their Big." - Mentoring Coordinator Lisa

Alberta Sport and Recreation for the Blind

Cardel Homes is proud to support the Alberta Sports and Recreation Association for the Blind with a $5,000 donation towards their grassroots and children's programs. We also look forward to learning their fast-paced Paralympic sport of goal ball at an upcoming company team building-activity.

ABOUT ASRAB:

The Alberta Sports and Recreation Association for the Blind (ASRAB) is a volunteer organization dedicated to the provision of recreation and sports opportunities for Albertans who are blind or partially sighted.

ASRAB members have competed in every Paralympic Games since their inception in 1976. They have competed in numerous World Championships in goalball, swimming, athletics, lawn bowls, wrestling, and power lifting. Our athletes set world records, and are Paralympic Champions, and are Canadian champions and medalists.

We have held sports camps and conducted local, provincial and national competitions. We've hosted 3 International Goalball Events and attended 31 years of Canadian Championships.

But in order to make all of this happen, we need people. People who support us, whether by volunteering, organizing, donating or participating in these events. Because that is what ASRAB stands for: the people.

Cardel Kidcasters

January 16, 2012 - Calgary, AB – On Thursday, January 19, 2012, Calgary Roughnecks Geoff Snider and Calgary Hitmen players Victor Rask and Brady Brassart will field questions from Cardel Kidcasters at the Scotiabank Saddledome. Cardel Homes invites you to attend this special press conference featuring 37 Grade 7 Cardel Kidcasters from Sir Wilfrid Laurier School.

The Cardel Kidcasters Program was created as a partnership among Cardel Homes, the Calgary Board of Education and Bowes Knows Sports to introduce Grades 7 and 8 students to the world of broadcast journalism. The program is the brainchild of CTV reporter Lisa Bowes and teaches reporters-in-the-making the importance of research, writing and delivery to the craft.

Cardel Kidcasters research newsworthy stories using video, print and digital mediums under deadline before delivering their broadcasts in a simulation of newsroom and field environments. The two-part program consists of on-camera writing assignments, interviews and oral presentations.
